GOD'S DECREED WILL
While perusing through some YouTube videos, I found a series on Costi Hinn's podcast "For the Gospel" about God's will. He spoke about His two wills: His decretive (decreed) will, and His revealed (prescriptive) will.
This blog is a summary of Costi's podcast on God's decreed will.
First, let's define God's decreed will. God's decreed will is also known as God's sovereign efficacious will, which is that will which comes to pass by necessity from the very force of God exercising that will. It's that which God has decreed will happen from eternity past to eternity future.
There are seven aspects to God's decretive will:
1. No one can stop God's decretive will. There are events which God has decreed WILL happen, for example, (a) salvation, and (b) world event).
2. No one can resist God's decreed will (Romans 9:19)
3. God's decretive will can be a secret, for example, the time when Christ returns, and which political leaders He puts into position to govern a particular country.
4. God's decretive will doesn't mean He's the author of sin. He allows evil to exist, but He is not the cause of it. Mankind is responsible for the evil they do and will be held accountable for it.
5. God's decretive will is 100% just.
6. God's decretive will controls opportunities.
7. God's decretive will must be respected.
