PEACE IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM

Sometimes we live as if God has no idea what’s going on—as if He’s dropped the ball and our lives have spun out of His control.

We’re quick to say, “God is sovereign!” or “God is in control!” when we’re looking at someone else’s situation. But the moment life interrupts our plans with trial or adversity, those confident declarations can quickly turn into quiet questions… or even doubt.

Job understood this kind of suffering in a way few ever will.

In a matter of hours, he lost everything—his possessions, his livelihood, and all seven of his children. And as if that weren’t enough, he was then struck with a painful disease. Job faced the very things we fear most: loss, grief, and physical suffering.

And yet, God had not lost control.

I’ve walked through seasons of job loss myself. More than once, the rug was pulled out from under me. But every single time, God proved Himself faithful. Bills were paid. Needs were met. He made a way when I couldn’t see one.

That’s why I don’t panic the way I used to—because I remember.

I remember His faithfulness.
I remember His provision.
I remember that He has never failed me.

I understand that new trials can be frightening. When we face something unfamiliar, it can shake us. But we hold onto the promise of Romans 8:28—that for those who love Him, God works all things together for good.

Even this.
Especially this.

Worry, at its core, is a struggle of trust.

It whispers, “God, I’m not sure You’ve got this.”
It suggests that somehow things have slipped beyond His control.

But nothing—nothing—is outside His sovereign hand.

So when trials come, perhaps the better question isn’t, “Why did this happen?” but rather, “Lord, what are You teaching me through this?”

Every trial carries purpose, even when we can’t yet see it. Sometimes it draws us back when we’ve wandered. Sometimes it humbles us, reminding us how little control we truly have. And sometimes, it becomes the very stage upon which God displays His glory.

So don’t let fear take the lead in your heart.

Lift your eyes off the storm and fix them on Christ.

As you do, something beautiful begins to happen—fear loosens its grip, worry fades, and a quiet confidence takes its place. Not confidence in yourself, but in Him.

Because our strength was never meant to carry us through.

We were always meant to rest in His.
