THE HARD DOCTRINE

God doesn't tweak His gospel to suit the individual feelings of those who don't agree with it. What God meant for it to say and mean is what it says and means to everyone whether they agree with it or not.

He doesn't come to someone, pat them on the back and say, "There, there. You don't like this doctrine? Well, you can interpret it the way you like." That makes man out to be sovereign instead of God. That means God caters to our whims instead of us yielding to His commands.

Scripture says that God is unchangeable. This means that what God was from the beginning, He will be forever. This means what He meant in Scripture is what it will be for eternity. He won't change who He is, nor will He change what He wrote in His Word to satisfy someone's lack of understanding or refusal to accept it.
Many people over the years have despised the teaching of God's sovereign election and predestination.  They despise the idea of God being sovereign.  To them, man is sovereign over his fate.  This is tied to pride (I had enough intelligence to make the right decision) and reject the idea of grace (God chose me because of His love, mercy, and grace).  They think God is being unfair, but if they want fair, then God would send everyone to hell instead of extending grace to any of us at all.
